McCain has gone off the deep-end with his latest ad. Regarding this story, reported by CNN http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/07/30/mccain.ad/index.html, I find it amusing that top adviser Steve Schmidt would say that comparing Obama to Spears and Hilton is "apples to apples." Yes sir, Paris and Hilton are international celebrities, but neither are as well educated, politically experienced or US Presidential Candidates. I'm sure their less engaging at microphones, speaking to thousands of German friends, for example.
Dear Steve Schmidt, I think people in your party label Obama as "frivolous and irresponsible" just as a child screams, "that's not fair!" when denied a cookie before dinner. You know that he is a strong candidate. That knowledge precludes you from making stronger arguments. I don't doubt that Obama will be the next President. How could he not? In a country that needs to see change in the role of President and the "Most Important Job in the World," who else could intelligent and real-thinking Americans choose?
It speaks volumes that Obama is an "international celebrity". The world realizes how great he will become. Unfortunately, there are people in this two-party system that are so beholden to tradition, that they cannot see the forest for the trees. Many (thank God not all) Republicans would rather see a Republican for the mere sake of a Republican, in spite of what is really good for their country. Ask yourselves why the world does not really care much for McCain.
